Djembe – Ivory Coast – Iroko – Purple Haze

This djembe was built here at DD&S.

• The Shell is Iroko {Milicia excelsa} carved in the Ivory Coast, however the rope is from our DDS Drum Rope, The Rings are our 1/4″ cold rolled steel custom fit, and the Goatskin heads are hand picked by our builders then assembled here in our shop.
• These Djembe Shells like the Ivory Coast Dunun are finished with the very distinct, Traditional Ivory Coast Chip Pattern, instead of the sanded smooth texture that look lathe turned.
• While Iroko doesn’t have the density of Lenke or Khadi to reach the highest and sharpest tones, it more than makes up for it by delivering a much better tonal range from the Bass all the way up to the slap. These qualities make it the best choice for accompaniment, when tuned up for top end it can still hold it’s own.
